Kingspan Access Floors Ltd and their Belgian distributor/installer, Dynabat SA from Bierges, Wallonia, faced strong competition from indigenous and German manufacturers to win this prestigious project.

The wrap-round full steel encapsulation design of the Kingspan RG3 panel was a deciding factor for the architect, main contractor and the client. The panels have a 30-mm chipboard core, totally encapsulated in hot-dipped galvanized steel to provide a level of protection to the panel that makes it virtually impossible for moisture, humidity or liquids of any type to ingress into the chipboard core, so ensuring sustained performance of the panel.

Additionally, as the join between the two steel sheets is on the underside of the panels (hydraulically stitched in a press at Kingspan Access Floors' factory in Marfleet, Hull, East Yorkshire, UK) this formed a large part of the decision to import and install over 277,000 RG3 panels at the jobsite in central Brussels..
