Kingspan is sensitive to its position as an industry leader and, recognising the serious challenges facing our eco-system, is therefore committed to reducing the impact of its business operations, products and services on the environment.

Kingspan's contribution to meeting these challenges is to design, develop and supply new systems and solutions in an environmentally responsible manner.

Kingspan has set ambitious targets for reducing its effect on the environment in its business operations and through the lifecycle performance of its products. With regard to regulations, standards and the climate change agenda, Kingspan is renowned for not only meeting, but exceeding and even driving forward, legislation that provides a step change towards increasingly more energy-efficient, low carbon buildings.

Through its employees, Kingspan instills an environmental awareness and responsibility that is reflected in the concept, design, development and production of all its products and services.

Environmental policy

Kingspan is committed to operating its businesses in a way that promotes environmental best practice.

Kingspan aims to:

• Conduct business operations in compliance with relevant environmental legislation, standards and codes.
• Prevent pollution and environmental damage by conserving energy and resources, recycling, reducing waste, and implementing other appropriate environmental strategies.
• Operate environmental management systems and controls through a programme of continuous improvement.
• Work together with our stakeholders to promote environmental leadership.

In addition to adopting this policy, Kingspan has also committed to extend certification to the internationally recognized ISO14001 environmental management system standard to 100 percent of its major manufacturing sites.

Climate change

Climate change is a serious environmental challenge that demands credible action and, in recognition of this, Kingspan is committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from all manufacturing facilities.

Kingspan recognises that appropriate actions may vary from country to country and one market sector to another. A comprehensive approach takes into account the most effective way to deal with each country or sector.

As a construction industry leader, Kingspan will work with clients and other stakeholders to:

• Improve the global property market through the development of innovative products that provide low energy and low carbon buildings
• Accelerate the application of environmentally progressive systems and solutions
• Reduce environmental impact and carbon footprint of business, supply chain and on-site operations
• Promote the application of sustainable, renewable energy systems and low/zero carbon technologies

Finally, Kingspan promotes the use of construction techniques that respect the environment in terms of manufacturing, transportation, site installation, waste and end of life - which are better integrated, more efficient, faster and safer - and the selection of materials and systems to minimise the overall ecological impact of buildings.
